Syeda Mleeha Shah is a Richmond-based design artist whose work is inspired by Moroccan, Andalusian, and Islamic design traditions. Her process begins with hand-drawn geometric sketches, which she transforms into custom stencils and layered canvas compositions through repetition, paint, and texture. Inspired by zellige mosaics, Arabic calligraphy, architecture, textiles, and ornamental arts, her work honors cultural heritage while offering a modern interpretation of pattern, symmetry, and storytelling.Beyond the canvas, Shah extends her designs into wearable art and lifestyle pieces through her brand, JAG Universal Collection, where her original patterns appear in apparel, accessories, and home décor.
